mADAGASCAR A MUSICAL ADVENTURE JR. GRADES 4TH - 8TH Performance

Grades 4th-8th: Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the hip hip Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto the stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime.  Based on the smash DreamWorks animated motion picture, Madagascar – A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar.

Sara is the Co-owner of The Spotlight Theatre and obtained her BFA in Musical Theatre from California State University, Fullerton in 2005 and her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Point Loma Nazarene University in 2007. Most recently she also obtained her 200 hr. yoga instructor certificate. Sara has performed in, directed and produced over 60 productions both locally and in Northern and Southern California; including one of her favorite experiences as a Disneyland parade performer! Her most important roles the past 13 years have been “Mom” to her 3 children, Parker, Taylor and Cooper and “Wife” to her husband and Spotlight co-owner, Brent :)

Originally from Anchorage, Alaska, Lillian Maynard has spent the last 15 years working as a theatre and dance educator specializing in movement for the stage, musical theatre dance, and theatre for young audiences. She is a certified stage combat instructor with Dueling Arts International, as well as a member of the National Dance Education Organization, and currently serves as a freelance choreographer and director throughout Western Illinois. She believes theatre is for everyone and is dedicated to making theatre accessible to performers of all ages and abilities. She earned her BFA in Musical Theatre in 2011 and an M.A. in History in 2013 from Western Illinois University.

Annie came to the Quad Cities from Riverside, Illinois to study music education at Augustana College. Since graduating in 2017, Annie has taught K-6 general music at Jackson Elementary in Davenport and earned a Masters of Education from University of Iowa. Annie has also enjoyed performing locally with ComedySportz Quad Cities, Countryside Community Theatre, Prenzie Players, and of course the Spotlight! Outside of teaching, Annie enjoys reading, crafts, and spending time with her husband and 3 beloved dogs. She is so glad to be able to bring her skills as an educator to the Spotlight Theatre!

Having spent most of his life performing, training, learning, and teaching improv, Brent is thrilled to be bringing this class to the Children’s Company. As well as being the co-owner of The Spotlight Theatre, Brent spent many years performing with such improv groups as ComedySportz Quad Cities, Sacramento, and Los Angeles. He is a graduate of The Second City Conservatory Los Angeles. He also spent many years touring the world as a company member of The Reduced Shakespeare Company. He knows you will have a blast in any classes we have together.

Becca is a Quad Cities native with 12 years of experience working in children's theatre. Becca has been a Spotlight Children’s Company instructor for the past 2 years, and is now also teaching private acting lessons out of the theatre for ages 8 and up. You've probably seen Becca perform at one of the many QC theatres in the past, and in the past couple years, one of the shows at Spotlight! Becca has also choreographed and directed a handful of our main stage shows and helps out with many behind the scenes tasks as well. Outside of theatre, Becca loves baking and spending time with her family, including her 5 year old son and new baby girl she welcomed in September of 2020! Becca cannot wait to pass on her passion for the theatre and all of its magic, with the kids of The Spotlight Theatre!

Noah Hill is so excited to be a member of the Children’s Company here at the Spotlight Theatre! Originally from a tiny town in Southern Illinois, Hill has been a resident of the QC area for the past 4 years to attend college, and has been happy to make this area his new home. He obtained his Bachelors in Theatre Arts with a Musical Theatre emphasis from Augustana College in 2022. Areas of theatre he mainly works in include acting, directing, and technical theatre. He cannot state how thankful he is to be able to work with the Children’s Company and to provide opportunities to kids that he did not have available to him when he was growing up.

Katie is so excited to be a part of the Spotlight Theatre Children's Company! Originally from the Chicago suburbs, Katie moved to the Quad Cities to pursue a degree in music education and theatre from Augustana College. A 2020 graduate, Katie now teaches music in the Moline-Coal Valley School District, teaches musical theatre and acting classes at Davenport Junior Theatre, and music directs with area theatres including Davenport Junior Theatre, The Black Box Theatre, and of course, the Spotlight Theatre! She has had the privilege of music directing 2 mainstage productions at Spotlight, and performing in 3 as well! When she is not onstage or behind a piano, Katie likes to spend her time reading, swimming, and listening to all kinds of music! She is so thankful for the opportunity to work with the Spotlight Theatre Children's Company with these amazing kiddos, and this incredible team!

Christine is very excited to be a part of the Spotlight Theatre Children's Company! Christine grew up in Naperville, IL and first came to the Quad Cities to attend Augustana College. She graduated in May 2020, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Music Education and German Studies. After accepting the K-5 General Music teacher position at Millikin Elementary in Geneseo, IL, Christine decided to make the Quad Cities her new home. Outside of school, Christine plays in the Quad City Wind Ensemble, various musical pit orchestras, serves on the staff for the Geneseo High School Marching Band, and teaches early childhood music classes for Quad Cities Music Therapy. In her free time, she enjoys doing puzzles, spending time with family and friends, and playing with her two cats, Zach and Felix.
